How to get to Norwich Cathedral

Wherever you go in Norwich city centre, you’ll not be far from a wonderful view of Norwich Cathedral and its famous spire. Here are some tips to help you get here…
Norfolk - Good Journey County
Norwich Cathedral has teamed up with Norfolk County Council, Good Journey and organisations across the county to encourage more people to leave the car at home and explore the county on foot, by bike or using public transport.
By foot
Norwich Cathedral is located in the Cathedral Close in the centre of Norwich. On foot, the main entrance points to Cathedral Close are via Tombland, Bishopgate and from the Riverside Walk.
By cycle
Norwich Cathedral is only a few minutes cycle ride from National Cycle Route 1, which passes though the heart of the city and is on Norwich’s cross city route from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital to Heartsease. A copy of the Norwich Cycle Map can be downloaded here.
There are cycle racks at the West Front of the Cathedral (near the entrance to Norwich School) and also by the South Door of the Cathedral (near the Cloister).
Norwich Cathedral is also part of the Cathedrals Cycle Route which links up all 42 of the country's Anglican Cathedrals. More details about this are available here.
By train
The Cathedral is a 10-minute stroll from Norwich Station via a riverside walk. Greater Anglia runs direct trains to Norwich from London, Cambridge and many places across East Anglia.
By bus
The closest bus stops are in Tombland, next to the Cathedral, and Castle Meadow, a five-minute walk away.

By coach
There is a free coach stop on Tombland near Norwich Cathedral. Coaches should approach the coach stop from the inner ring road via Whitefriars/Palace Street/Tombland and depart ahead via Upper King Street. Coaches can stop for 15 minutes and there is no return within the hour.
By car
Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate parking for general visitors in the Cathedral Close. However, there are several car parks nearby, including St Helen’s Wharf and Rose Lane.
There are also Park and Ride services which bring people into the city centre by bus from various locations on the outskirts of Norwich.
